The opening of this movement is a transcription of the prelude to his incomplete opera The Gamblers, perhaps Shosty's way of saying he still had unfinished business at his death!

Try his Sonata for piano and cello - Op. 40. I am quite sure you will love it.



However, Shosty is known for ignoring his own tempo markings and playing things ridiculously fast....
