No, Dan Brown is fine. He teaches a begginer's method, so it obviously won't be as fast as a speedsolving method. Someone with no cubing expiereince can't just jump into an advanced method; intermediate maybe, but not advanced. They have to start somewhere. Something about the way he explains just works for begginers.

@LanceTheBlueKnight don't discourage people from watching dan's method. i used to use it and got it down to 1 minute, it's a great beginner method tutorial

I learnt F2L without any algorithms... its just one of those things where if you practice it enough you just know where the sides go to match.

Lol i've only knew f2l for about 2 days and i can keep up easily, I'm averaging around 1min 30secs and decreasing. Could you give me any tips on becoming a speed cuber.

Dan Brown's methods are horribly slow. Thrawst's videos are amazing. Dan Brown and Thrawst should never be spoken about in the same breath, it's sacreligious.
