  • Lots of good things to say about this recording. I think the piano sounds fantastic - what brand? - not Steinway, i guess?

  • @knudriis59 - It is is a Steinway, the hall (which is made out of brick) almost likens it to a Mason an Hamlin, but it is a Steinway.

  • I have recording of this peace performed by Gidon Kremer and Keith Jarret. It's is perfect.

This performing is just very good, but not perfect :)

  • Well, I appreciate you comparing my recording to those masters! I personally do not know what a perfect recording is, but I shall find out someday; so I won't take offense to being reduced from perfect to very good. It seems, by your standards that must be a great compliment!

What do you think of Part's other compositions?

Are you acquainted with the works of Ned Rorem?

  • fuck man," when in rome".. i guess that's like, if i went to a hip hop artists site and said "yo, that beat was dope playa!", but do u really say "i shall" and "are you aquainted" in your every day life? like, "I shall now order a taco. Are you aquainted with this ribauld chipolte sauce"?

  • you know, classical and hip hop are totally different extremes in the spectrum of music. I write the way I do because that is how people communicate about the music I and my colleagues play. The purpose of youtube is to comment on the video, not the poster's writing stlye. Maybe you'd better yourself as an English major, not a music critic, yo...

  • @pianistafj That has to be one of the most wonderful You Tube exchanges ever. A triumph to you ! Where do you begin ?

  • This is one of my absolute favorite musical compositions, EVER! Thank you for posting this; I particularly like this interpretation...I had it on CD...lost it, and will replace it as soon as I can. This makes me want to do so quickly.

  • really excellent performance from both violinist and pianist. bravo! and thanks for posting

  • You rocked it I loved the way you brought the bass notes in the unaccompanied opening section. For me there is always room for more than one interpretation who wants to listen to the one "perfect" recording whatever the hell that is. Great job ***** (five stars)!

  • yes, that was a compliment :) I was the pianist few years ago, but now i am studying composition. What you do with piano is really good, I was writing about the quatlity of violin. This is really difficult peace.

I have almost all Arvo Part's recordings and I really like his style. His old style is not so interesting.

I posted two my compositions a little bit inspired by Arvo Part :)

I know nothing about Ned Rorem, but I will :)

    Greetings from Lithuania :)
