  • As I turn in for the night, I'll be dreaming of nothing else: 'at the third stroke...'!

  • Poor old Richard Peach (the new guy) died a couple of years ago, but his voice lives on.

  • I used to be the tech op on Richard Peach's ABC Victorian regional radio afternoon program at the time he became the talking clock...They all had nicknames and his was TC or ....Talking Clock.

I used to duck out into the corridor during music inserts to get fresh air coz Richard was a heavy smoker and used to do so in the studio....Gasp.

  • Like an analog CD! I frieking love it!

Did they actually make the light beam piano, I can't find photos of it.

I guess the Optigan comes pretty close.

  • I _LOVE_ this... First of all, I love machines. Second of, both voices were very cool... Also, I am in love with the concept of the months having names and the newer machine shows the current full month name in large letters on her little display. I love them naming the one machine George and about the woman falling in love with the new guy's voice. I have gotten crushes with recorded women's voices much the same... The larger older machine was LOVELY LOOKING TOO.

  • While each technology is marvellous in its own way, there was something wonderfully Heath Robinson about the old spinning discs!

  • I was the voice on speaking clock for many years

  • I bet the computerised one goes out of date more quickly than the glass disk version. Great stuff!
