502 bad gateway ... Anyone know where I can find the cgi converter trinket?
-
oh, this is the "experience factors":))
my experience is same, every bamboo different...

Surely glad to help.That s a great idea for shakuhachi enthusiasts to post their own self made shakuhachis showing and playing, and share ideas, inputs and improvement comments. Thanks again, we are all learners of this simple noble instrument.

@sigwadaflutes It might be that the bore isnt tapered correctly. ill post a vid soon, maybe you can tell me specifically if I show you the flute where the problem lies.

are the factors the same for every shak? or do you calculate them each time?

@cristiflorin
Per my experience, for longer flutes, all the factors get added 1 cm. No definite rule really, essentially intuitive - when you hold the flute to decide what factors to use on top of jeremy's figures. I always give the biggest factors to 1st, 3rd and 4th hole. The greatest risk is to place a hole too far up therefore too sharp where it's hard to adjust, and too low that you end up with too big a hole. In all cases start with a small hole and widen it gradually to tone pitch up.

@sigwadaflutes thank you. Yesterday I made a shak without considering the factors and it came out pretty much well tuned in A-C-D-E-G-A. This morning I made another one considering the factors and it came out fine too. thanks again

@cristiflorin
Great, congratulations. There are really no hard and fast rules. The enjoyable thing is to make one's own shakuhachi and play it. Could you post video playing your new shakuhachi? Thanks.

Hi!its very nice video, thanx!i have one question:What is the factors, and how calculate it?
Balanuja 7 months ago
@Balanuja
Thanks. May I refer to a previous answer: "As for the factors, i arrived at these numbers to adjust corresponding holes, meaning I deduct certain cm. off what jeremy gives. That's why I use first small 8 cm. burning rod and tune upwards (sharper) by using bigger diameter rods (up to 10 cm.) to achieve the correct pitch per hole."
These factors are based on my actual experience in making shakuhachis, frankly not scientific rather intuitive. Which makes shak making challenging exciting
