Spotlight: New Patriarch

Today we will talk about the election of the new Patriarch of Moscow. On Tuesday night Metropolitan Kirill of Smolensk and Kaliningrad was elected as head of the Russian Orthodox Church by a council comprised of clergymen, monks and laymen. Is the Russian Orthodox Church entering a new era? Well be talking about it with Aleksandr Dvorkin, a professor at St. Tikhon Orthodox University and Andrey Zolotov, a religious commentator.

I agree with you fully brother. I just hope that Patriarch Kirill follows the line of his predecessors as Orthodoxy is pure and the Romans have headed in the wrong direction and against God. God bless Russia, Serbia and all our Orthodox brothers and sisters in Christ.

The blood of tens of thousands of martyrs and numerous other believers who died for their Orthodox faith is a testament to that and NO leader of the Russian Orthodox Church can take it upon himself to make an ecumenical deal with Rome and side step these doctrinal differences. If you don't understand this, you have no clue about Orthodoxy.

There are serious doctrinal differences between Orthodoxy and Rome. Unless the pope is willing to go back in time to the period of the Seventh Ecumenical Councils, there will not be any rapprochement between Orthodoxy and Rome - that is just a pipe dream
