For rummaging through Mike and Gloria's personal belongings, Archie was a fucking asshole.
Invasion of privacy is a non-negotiable. It is even a felony to open someone else's mail with permission. Even a spouse can be charge with this felony by the other spouse!

IT WAS EDITHS HOUSE AS WELL,NOT JUST HIS.HE STILL HAD NO RIGHT WHAT SO EVER TO GO THROUGH MIKE AND GLORIAS PERSONAL BELONGINGS WITHOUT FIRST ASKING THIER PERMISSION.BESIDES,GLORIA WAS A GROWN WOMAN MARRIED TO A GOWN MAN.HOW WOULD ARCHIE FEEL IF SOMEONE DID THE VERY SAME THING TO HIM? ARCHIE IS APPARENTLY ONE OF THOSE STILL LIVING IN THE DARK AGES,FINDING IT SOMEWHAT DIFFICULT TO ACCEPT THE FACT THAT TIMES HAVE CHANGED.

Gloria and Mike were staying with them until Mike graduated from college, and moved out. But it doesn't matter, Archie started it. He had no right to go through they're private things. And yes, that includes Edith. Cause there are some things that you shouldn't know. If they want you to know, they'll tell you. Archie wouldn't want anyone going through his things. In fact in season 7, they had a boarder named Teresa staying with them, I think she would have felt the same way, and so would you.
