Pontian Dance group Argonauts Komnini in Australia 1991

Pontian Dance group Argonauts Komnini from Athens (Greece) dancing at "Pontiaki Estia" in Melbourne, Australia 1991

This group has danced internationally all around the world, even seen at the Athens Olympics in 2004.

The first dancer is the dance teacher Christos Theodoridis (who also was the teacher at Dora Stratu dance academy).

On the Ndaouly(drum) is Theodoros Kotidis who is now a well know lyra / kemence player.

Every body has their own interpritation of the dances.I think these were to keep people in line in the battlefield.When I dance these I am in "battle".There are however dances made for women in womens atire like dipat Omal, kalon korits etc. I do see though women that dance better than men .....
