..even for just a very short time. This is Buddy, who was separated from his two rabbit companions when he became ill and took a visit to the vets. He was kept in for 3 days and when his owner returned him to the others, because he had been away for too long, they rejected him. Unfortunately, attempts to re-bond the group ultimately failed.

You should never separate your bonded rabbits - even if you need to take one to the vet for just a short trip, always keep them together in the same carry box.

  • Thank you for letting us know...it's always nice to hear from people who have adopted from us and to hear that they are part of your family!

  • ohh no :( I'm glad he found a new home, but so upsetting. I will be getting a male and female from the same litter in 5 weeks time, I plan to have them spayed/neutered, how do you suggest I do this as I have read they will need to be separated during the healing process? Thanks

  • Thank you for your very sensible question. Keep them together at all times - take them to the vet in the same carry box. The vet should put them back together immediately after the op. The support they get from each other helps the healing process - if your vet says anything different, go elsewhere. You will be surprised just how quickly they bounce back (the girls take a little longer as its a more invasive operation). You are DEFINITELY doing the right and responsible thing. Well done!
