The longer the better, and if you park it in the sun it's a bonus. I let mine set for about 24 hours to allow the adhesive dry thoroughly. Believe me, it's such a pain in the ass to apply them, you won't want to take any chances. I recommend Baltimore Street Mods. Top notch quality.

thinking about buying some from baltimore street mods . com. they say theyre 3m but im worried about 2 things..
1. I live in texas and was wondering how well do you think matte black on a candy apple red car would hold up in the heat and
2. the overall quality of the stripe.
thanks man!

wow a home made Shelby gth!
The stripes I got from 3M have backing that must be laid on the car...very stiff and difficult. Looks like you are putting them on directly with no backing. Am I missing something here?

I believe what you are replying to is a called a cover sheet. That is how they should come to protect the vinyl from scratching. We use special non marking squigges, i like these (squigges) because A. i can see whats going on under the cover sheet
B. its considerable quicker C. Allows more comforatibility with the vinyl.
Patience is the key, and knowing what the vinyl will do. Anymore questions please feel free to post-Stripe Guy

I did this on my car last year so this is a little hazy to me. I also noticed you trimming around the rear license plate. What tips do you have in doing this? To trim, I used a sharp hobby knife but still came out slightly jagged. I live in NJ and had to hunt around for people who could do the stripes for me but found nobody - had to do it myself.

To trim the stripes, i use a olfa blade with carbon blades-or a razor blade. If you are unsure about making your cut straight, make a tape line with masking tape then follow it. You should not have to press to hard-just glide the blade with constant and even pressure. If you ever need to locate a "Stripe Guy" like me, we tend to service bodyshops alot.
