I could care less if any president gives a public statement about an incident the second it happens. In most cases it will just be political rhetoric anyhow since they won't have the full and accurate details. What's important is what they do about it.

bush was recorded by several people playing golf when the first plane hit; and wasn't informed till after his game was done when all the planes were down. he did see the first plane hit on tv. but it wasn't live. he had a very poor reaction to the attacks.

Bush said he had seen the first plane hit on TV. That is not possible, for the video didn't come out until well after the second plane hit. (Maybe even a day later I'm not sure)
