A BNSF EMD SD75I leads the St. Paul to Chicago train around the curve between Lee and Shabbona, Illinois. Train length was about 2,800 feet.

Newly minted BNSF conductor, Joe LeMay, ( http://www.flickr.com/photos/8245761@N07/ ) is aboard this train while qualifying on the territory.

The train slows as it had a "headlight" meet with a westbound stack train at Shabbona.

It was a toasty 7 degrees outside. I got chased away from the spot after the video as a huge county plow came by. There was no way he could get by me on the narrow road. So I had to leave my cameras behind, jump into the car and skid down the road to pull into a farm house driveway to let him clear.

(Anyone else seeing a slight "jerkiness" or hesitation in the playback? I think Adobe Flash was updated recently. And I'm using a slightly different encoder than in the past. So I'm trying to get some feedback. Same video over at flickr plays fine.)

  • what do you refer to when you say 'warbonnet'? is that the paint scheme?

  • @trainfanatic1100 Hi. Yes, the red and white paint scheme is sometimes referred to as "Warbonnet."

  • That train wasn't hanging around as it hit that curve. Great stuff Bill.....Mike

  • @modemeyes Yep. I heard that this train did not have to stop once after it left Lacrose that morning. Thanks for watching.

  • @HighIronofWisconsin Hi and thanks. I sync the cameras by bringing them together after a train runs by and before stopping them. I then clap so that the sound spike will be visible on my video editor. I line up each sound clip spike which syncs the video.

  • Nice, Bill! Love the wind turbines at the beginning. ? for you. Do you sync the timecode on your cameras, or do you edit them together visually?

  • @Railhead1956 Thank you.
