Hmmm, funny, isn't it Bush and Republicans who twice made us de-regulate the banking industry in order to save it? Once in the 80s after the S&L fiasco (that McCain should've gone to jail for along with Keating), and then again in the late 90s when Wall-Street lobbied for it (including Phill Gramm and McCain, among others).
The Dems didn't get us in this mess at all. In fact, even McCain is calling for more regulation of the banking sector himself. Surprise.
