UPDATE: When the trial first came about, I found it hard to believe they could something like this, over the years, reading more on the case and watching videos, receiving updates of the guys and so on, I see that they did, BUT in view of the recent Dateline NBC, they are doing very well out of prison now. I still will continue to support them in any way possible. Don't bash me for my views. Derek used to be a friend, you wouldn't give up on one of your friends if they did something wrong would you? Even something like this?. Now is the time they need our love and support. They're in school and trying to create a new life for themselves. Thanks for watching the video, and I retract my previous statement of they shouldn't be in prison. It was preemptive of me to say something like that, without knowing all the facts.

The fact that they are children does not negate that they possess the mental competency to understand the consequential result of their actions. True. Children should be tried as children regardless of the severity of the crime, unless it can be proven that they in fact think like adults. If they "mastermind" a murder, for example, then they should be tried as adults. These two guys should be tried as children.
