Alright, let me start off by saying this is the first time I've ever done this. I've never attempted to beat Gades at the Gordovan Tower before, because I'd rather just take the easy way out and get on with the story. This time, however, I decided to go for it. So, here it is.
I'll explain what happened before this video, first. I arrived at Gordovan at level 22, and leveled up to 28 outside the town there. I ascended the tower and went head on against Gades. I got my ass kicked. So I went back outside and leveled to 30/31, figuring I only needed a few levels worth of agility to get faster than Gades. Again, I got my ass kicked because I couldn't get the upper hand against Gades' agility.
I decided "Fine, you wanna play this way? Let's play." I went back outside town, power leveled to 37, and picked up some long awaited Jet Helms (Apparently, I had a few on my level 30 attempt but I wasn't aware of them xD), got enough Gold for probably the rest of the game, and went at it once more.
This time, things were different.
The key to this battle is to get Tia's agility higher than that of Gades. To do that, you'll need the help of the Jet Helm's IP, Sluggish. Sluggish, as the name describes, lowers the agility of an enemy. You'll also need the Speedy Ring (Which was found... waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back at the beginning of the game) and IT'S IP, Fake. Fake increases the agility of the person it's used on. With this, Tia could act before Gades did, which allowed a nice pattern to set in; Gades' attacks, Tia heals, etc. If Tia were slower than Gades, I'd have to heal blindly, not knowing who Gades would target. The Holy Wings (Gotten from Parcelyte Castle Basement after the Treasure Sword Shrine) were also essential here, allowing Tia to heal the whole party for 130+ after a Destructo-wave.
Guy was the essential attacker. With a Franshiska and the Undead Ring (Changes your attacks to Holy, which Gades is weak against), Guy dished out 300+ damage a turn. If he died, there would've been no way to finish this.
To be honest, Maxim and Selan were borderline useless.in this fight. Maxim, though he could turn out the occasional Glacial Blast, was there only to throw out the extra healings.
Selan spent most of her time dead, and even when she was alive, she only provided a small healing and a 100 or so damage Flash.
Stay tuned for part 2.
err... You can beat this guy at level 24... forget agility, just preheal and use proper IP abilities for defense/offense. You took the pansy way out by power leveling.... and still had troubles >.<

@mrmonomonkey o rly? As addressed many times before, there are far better ways to do this. I'm not trying to impress anyone here. >_> But thanks for trying to make me feel bad by saying I took the pansy way out in a nearly 3 year old video =P

okay i know this is a old (yet good) video but i have a question regarding this, aparently the Ork enemies drop Jet Helms, yet i've been fighting like 1000's of them and havent gotten a single one, any alternate way to get them, or am i fucking something up? I've fought so much of them that i've managed to buy 59 statues, but not a single Jet Helm.

@kihaku98 Yeah, they can drop pretty sporadically. But congrats on at least getting 1! The Orcs are the only enemies that drop them IIRC, besides the one you get from a chest.
