Book review of The Subtle Knife by Philip Pullman for our book club, also a bonus mini review of the Nook Simple Touch E-Reader! Sorry it's a day late! If you were reading along with us let me know what you thought in the comments or as a video response! The next book we are reading is the next book in the His Dark Materials series, The Amber Spyglass. We'll have two weeks to read it and post our opinions on July 19th!

  • How's Eli getting on with Charlie?

  • @stephen129 Surprisingly she was fine with him from day one! She's still pretty mean to the other cats though.

  • I also noticed that at the time you posted this you were reading the Deathly Hallows? Such a fun coincidence that both that book and this series deals with 3 artifacts. LoL Sorry I had to throw that small observation in there. In your first post you asked what "fantasy" daemon everyone had in mind for themselves? My entire family read this series and we had others say what we had. I apparently to everyone around me seem to have a Canada Lynx haha I tell everyone that this series is a must read.

  • I agree about the change in pace from, The Golden Compass to The Subtle Knife. The change of writing style in the sense of the characters point of view between chapters, is a difficult transition between the first and second book. Since the first is such a cliffhanger at the end. But as you read on this artifact is so amazing, and put into the hands of a perfect character (Will). And yes the movie was made terribly wrong (Except for Sam Elliot) I love the entire concept of Dust & Daemons...

  • Nice reviews and pretty girl talkin' bout book, sucha good mix!

  • nice reviews, especially appreciated your nook review :)

  • Great review! Hope you are having fun at leakycon right now :)

  • Where did you get your e-copy of Deathly Hallows? I've been looking for the series e-copy for Kindle. Although I suppose I could just wait and see what pans out on Pottermore.

  • this is the sweetest book in the trio, Cittàgazze is so magical
