Joan appeared on "The David Frost Show" on January 8, 1970.

She talks about the difference in Hollywood in the 1930's and 1970, boasts about firing her hairdresser before the taping of the show, her affair with Clark Gable, working with Cliff Robertson on "Female On The Beach", psychology, cleaning, traveling, Pepsi, her favorite foods, her definition of 'a star', and her new project on "The Virginian". The interview ends with her reading the poem "Desiderata".

  • She's so vulnerable in these late interviews. Hard not to open your heart to her.

  • And America has yet to find our soul. We're more lost than ever.

  • @izzymalik You are watching her play the role of her life: Joan Crawford, Movie Star.

  • Wow, that is some necklace she's wearing.

Joan was always a treat to watch.

  • @1927Norma Moorehead married actor John Griffith Lee in 1930; they divorced in 1952. She & Lee adopted an orphan named Sean in 1949, it remains unclear whether the adoption was legal, although she raised the child until he ran away from home. Sean had gotten into the 'wrong crowd' and at one point, she found a gun in his drawer. After he left, neither one ever heard from each other again. Agnes herself did not bear any children.

In 1954, she married actor Robert Gist; they divorced in 1958.

  • I love Joan like a teacher

  • @happylilsunbeam I know I am just said I am in love with this woman. You know I think we can feel a fake and there's nothing fake or cruel about this woman I am watching.

  • For a woman who only made it to the 6th grade, JC was an intelligent well spoken Woman and very classy and she is only part of a very few who can honestly be called a Living Legend at that time...

  • @TIPTON340 Please correct me if I am wrong but I thought Robert Gist was Agnes Mooreheads (Endora in betwitched) second husband...not sure but you may know. Thank you.

  • Robert Gist never directed again after this episode of The Virginian.

  • @1927Norma Right on! You hit the nail on the head. I think the reason she lent some of her 1930's film roles--Our Blushing Brides, Sadie McKee, Dancing Lady, with such credible and believable performances was because of all the turmoil of her early life!
