  • Well, we first SEE the great Sergio Leone at 4:19, leaning over Morricone's piano ~ but about 6:20... how wonderful to hear his deep, commanding voice.

Hollywood didn't want any link with Judaism and gangsterism -- mobsters had to be shown as Roman Catholics, which some of them were. For years, he was unable to get his gangster epic off the ground, until eventually Israeli arms dealer Arnon Milchan put up the money.

If there hadn't been such a delay we might have got Leone's war epic LENINGRAD

  • Great documentary...my favorite is at 6:00 when we see the great SERGIO LEONE!!

  • @HughHue thank you so much!!! you know so much about Ennio Morricone. thank you!!!

  • @mergejr Hello there! You may indeed ~ I'm privileged to be able to tell you: that is "Deborah's Theme'; written in advance of Leone filming (to Morricone's music) "Once Upon a Time in America".

(Very underrated director Giuseppe Tornatore works with ENNIO AMADEUS MORRICONE in a like manner)

    Here's the polished post-production piece: /watch?v=_3UTb34_3JQ

Many years later legendary Lyricists Marilyn & Alan Bergman would add English words:

    Also covered by Hayley Westenra

  • @HughHue may i know the title he was playing at 4:19 to 4:58. thanks

  • "The best film music is music you can hear. Music you can't hear, no matter how good, is bad film music."

    Ain't it the truth!

  • @salvy1984

I like that song too. Here are some others: Grande Silenzio, Invito All Amore, Il Mercenario, Muerte Donde Vas, L'Estasi Dell'Oro, Triello (Titoli Finali), Per Qualche Dollaro In Più, Per Un Pugno Di Dollari,

All these examples from italowestern films (Great Silence, For A Few Dollars More, Fistfull Of Dollars, The Good, The Bad The Ugly, Great Silence, Mercenario, 5 Man Army...) .

  • Thanks alot for uploading this! =) Sad thing I couldn't see the first part due to copyright laws in my country ;(

  • @SeaTac411 Yeah, so powerful sound

  • just one word describes Ennio Morricone's music: EPIC !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • It was Leone who used the technique of playing the music aloud when filming.Actors harmonized their perfomances with the music.

  • all anybody from my generation cares about is that guitar sound, how to make it..how to play it etc.
