Fingal County Council's Affordable Housing has been very successful over the past number of years, and even with the downturn in house sales from last year, they have sold over 300 units under our Affordable Housing in 2009. At the moment, they have a number of 2 & 3 bed apartments and duplexes in Domville Woods in Santry Demesne, and there are show units available which would not always be the case. These units are excellent value, with the 2 bed apartments starting at euro124,000.
Many people are unaware that Santry is in Fingal (it is right on the border with Dublin City Council), and as the area has a lot of local amenities, I think it would make a very good feature. Domville Woods is in Santry Demesne, right beside Santry Park which recently hosted the European Cross Country Championships, and also Morton Stadium (home ground of Sporting Fingal FC). Leisure activities are well catered for in this area, with both the Civic Theatre in Ballymun, and the Omniplex Cinema close by. There is plenty of shopping outlets at Omni Park, Northwood, and IKEA is also very close, and the units are located very close to a stop on the proposed Metro North line. Dublin City University is also within easy reach, as is Dublin Airport and M1/M50 access.
Fingal County Council has a dedicated Sales Section who handle sales of affordable units throughout the county. Many people are under the impression that affordable housing is geared at people who are on very low incomes or only for first time buyers. The income limits are surprisingly high, with a single person allowed to earn up to euro60,000 in the last full tax year, and a couple allowed to earn up to 165,000euro (using a formula of 2.5 times the main income plus the second income), and any separated or divorced people who may previously have owned a home but now no longer have any interest in the property can also purchase a home under affordable housing.
they're going to be blowing up lots of un-built gaffs, just squat in one of them and then claim squatters rights, easy-peasy.
