Alonso Mudarra (1510-1580)

-Intérpretes: Carlos Mena (contratenor)
Juan Carlos Rivera (vihuela)

(El Viso del Marqués, Ciudad Real)

Triste estava el rey David;
triste y con gran passión,
quando le vinieron nuevas
de la muerte de Absalón.
Palabras tristes dezia
salidas del corazón.

Ellos mismos fueron patria
de tu muerte y mi passión,
no te quisiera ver muerto
sino vivo en mi prisión,
que aunque me será desobediente
yo te otorgara perdón.
Fili mihi.

King David was sad,
saddened with great suffering
when he heard the news
of the death of Absalom,
sad words he spoke,
that came from his heart.

"He himself was in the land
of death an love
I would not want him killed
only alive in my prison.
His disobediener I would always pardon"
Fili mihi.
