Forced to give up his dreams of art school, Zach spends his days working a dead-end job and helping his needy sister care for her son. In his free time he surfs, draws and hangs out with his best friend, Gabe, who lives on the wealthy side of town. When Gabe's older brother, Shaun, returns home, he is drawn to Zach's selflessness and talent. Zach falls in love with Shaun while struggling to reconcile his own desires with the needs of his family.

"Shelter" is the most celebrated gay film this film festival season. It is being heralded by critics everywhere as the next landmark film in gay cinema.

I am eager to see this movie uniquely for the reason that it has a good ending. Don't get me wrong, it is normally not what I searched for in movies and I do like bittersweet endings. However, I am tired of seeing homosexual stories ending up abruptly and sadly...as if gay relationships are always doomed from the start. It has always baffled me that you almost always expect the guy and the girl to end up together in a heterosexual film whereas the opposite is true in gay romances. Anyway...Seeya

I absolutely LOVED this movie. Seriously, everyone should watch it. It's amazing. The actors are just fantastic and deserve some serious praise. The chemistry between Zach and Sean was so convincing and I adored them as a couple. 500 thumbs up.
