I actually thought this movie was a bit better than what allot of people give it credit for. Although it did have allot of problems. I have always thought that the main problem with it was not the movie itself but the choppy way it seems to have been edited together. If all the personal scenes had been in the first half leading up to the battle and the second half had all the battle scenes, like in Pearl Harbor, it might have had a smoother flow to it. I really liked it anyway.

Unlike real historians, you are not an expert on the war save battle flags which, though interesting topics to hard-core aficionados, are irrelevant to understanding the war itself and its meanings and consequences. And Grant had exactly one slave for Hardscrabble whom he freed in 1858, five years before the EA. Julia had four and Grant's parents objected to the marriage because of her slave-owning ways. It is a complex issue and I am talking to a schrivner and a man who pretends to be a soldier when he is actually a basement dwelling troll. Just admit it.

@RPenta Robert Duval is related to General Lee, I agree however, that Martin Sheen played General Lee much better.
