Saw Marilyn some years ago in Pasadena. She didn't sing any Foster tunes,
but she did sing "Bridge Over Troubled Water" for an encore.
I read that Foster wrote this song for a young couple whose daughter
was killed in a carriage accident. Just looked it up. There are conflicting
stories.
Tommy Makem also wrote a lovely song w/ the same title.

Beautiful voice, beautiful song. Our ancestors understood the nature of loss better than we do, and they were not too embarrassed to express their feelings in a sincere and poignant song.
