This video excerpt shows the last 10 minutes of a community retreat that took place in East Palo Alto, CA on Saturday, July 23, 2011. The retreat included members of the East Palo Alto community, several of the East Palo Alto City Council members and several of the city's key staff, who came together that day to create a plan for using revenues from a special city parcel tax to decrease crime and violence in the East Palo Alto community. During their retreat, the participants not only discussed ways of making East Palo Alto safer, but they also explored ways that the city could more effectively serve the needs of the city's youth, seniors, returning parolees and various other groups within its multi-ethnic community. This video excerpt shows a discussion of the follow up steps that will take place to implement the plans that were created during the community meeting.
