  • what kinda of clear coat did you use

  • @MrChevy815 I used a clear polycrylic but I recommend the EnviroTex High Gloss Sealer now as this is the application it is made for! :) Good Luck!

  • Thank you! I've been looking online and everything I find requires more steps and more materials. There was 1 I found very similar to yours. It says to use "Minwax Polycrylic Water Based Protective Finish" clear gloss. :) Hope that helps others!

I live in an apartment and the counters & cabinets are hidious!!! They said I can paint as long as the cabinets aren't some crazy color like hot pink. LOL Maybe if they like the counters they'll do it to other apartments! :D

  • @lolliepopjr I recommend EnviroTex High Gloss Sealer now. I used Minwax when I made the video but I much prefer EnviroTex now. :) Good Luck!

  • This is such a great technique! Are the paints and topcoat you used foodsafe?

  • @TXBelle915 the paints are not and I'm honestly not sure about the specific topcoat I used (I never put food directly on the countertop so I wasn't concerned at the time). I do recommend EnviroTex now as a topcoat since it is a harder finish and much glossier. EnviroTex is what they use on bar tops, tables, etc. in restaurants when they seal something into them.

  • Kristi, I just wanted to say that I find you so, creative... I mean, it's just amazing. "Kreative Kristi" is what they should call you....Oh, what's that, - they do!? See what I'm sayin'? Do you see what I'm sayin'!? That's what I'm talking about. Just awesome...dang! Why can't I be this awesome!!!!????

  • Nice video & VO

  • Great job!!! I'm trying this!!!

  • @Kilikikd ...Also after I primed 2 times...I would square off the tops with a matching WATERCOLOR marker, using a 4" square of cardboard or a yardstick. That way I would make sure that the first layer was even all the way across. The watercolor marker will disappear into the paint. If I start with gray, then I would square in gray. After that you can freestyle the rest of the colors.Since the kitchen has dark cabinets and only one small sink window.I would do like you and leave some white.
