@AKMLG i am always at appleby every year of my life and itt realy isnt cruel i take horses in the river and up the flash obvisialy the horse is clearly in good health

That poor horse, there has acually been a horse that has drowned at appleby horse fair before, coz the rider was a dick head and let the reins get twisted.

The owner looked after the horse but left the boy to look after himself. He was fine, if not cold and wet.

I agree it is certainly not an example of good horsemanship - especially compared with western style.
I did watch your latest movie RedRitz - very good.
What is good about gypsy riding style is that it's always bareback - unlike western where the horse has a massive weight on its back! It takes all sorts ...

Appleby is a unique place to participate in gypsy horse culture on a large scale.
It's exciting to be in amongst it and learn from the skills on display.
There is sometimes evidence of horses having near misses but that doesn't mean to say the activity should be banned. There's now an abundance of "Jobs Worths" on hand to prevent accidents - Long Live Appleby!
