Female Mimics, V.1, No.2, pictures professional female impersonators as they perform on stage in night clubs and prepare to do so. One pictorial shows a pretty young femme dressing up at home. Many pages have the look of a scrapbook of party snapshots.

The first eight pages present the fabulous Coccinelle in assorted dresses and in repose. This extraordinary individual accomplishes a dazzling feminine presence. Accompanying text tells of the life of this uniquely-gifted entertainer.

Featured performers include Harry Weber & Laurie Knight, Hans (from Puerto Rico), Gerry Lee, Gene Burke, and Poppy Smith. Other pictorials focus on a spectrum of performance venues, including the Jewel Box Revue, Madame Arthur's Cabaret of Paris and Amsterdam, the San Francisco Beige Room, and the Beggars' Ball. The ebook contains every word and picture of the 64-page original, including ads. #446

  • FMI was a fabulous magazine, one of the first I found that showed us as glamorous and sexy w/o being porn.

  • And Female Mimics magazine preceded FMI

    by about 20 years.

  • Nice pictures. And nice music (Erik Satie?), it matches the beauties so beautifully!

  • Thanks for writing.

Nice to hear that you like the slide show.

    Good guess.

Actually it's Jeux d'eau by Ravel.

  • I came into possession of an 83 year old man's costumes- who used to be a drag queen in the 50s. Three gowns, three showgirl outfits, a gold lame suit with pants and jacket, full fashioned fishnet stockings, satin coat with rhinstonesand two gold lame circle skirts. Very well custom made couture items. They're all awesome. I'm thinking about joining a local burlesque group just so I can keep the spirit alive in the clothes.

  • How fabulous.. drag and Ravel... a potent cocktail.

Thank you for sharing these wonderful images Texpix... Do take a look at my Miss Hope Springs stuff on my page here... I like to think I come from that tradition of Hollywood glamour ... I think youd enjoy it.

    Best Ty
