mommy taking care of baby rats. KAWAII!!!

Its my mother rat Kaiya taking very good care of her babies. they were born 1-8-07. she had 2 boys and a girl. they are a week old. shes a great mama.

hey is it true u cnt touch ur pet mother rat when shes got babies otherwise itl put her off caring for them or something?

for the fist couple days yes. luckily they stayed in the tube so i would lift the tube and put it on the couch then put the mama with them and once they get some fur or coloration to them then its okay to touch just not excessivly.

Some of my pinkies have little black patches, he thinks I think it's the color of the fur that's going to grow, but I know it's cause he beats them when I'm gone.

That true? That'd be awesome to see that happen. I always thought hamsters were the only rodents to cannibalize their offsprings. Hmm, I wonder what would have happened if you put in a very hungry hampster in a nest full of rat pinkies. :D

i had a rat who had baby it was soooo cool but if that ever happens to anyone DO NOT PUT DAD IN CAGE!! dad will EAT them!!!!
