Technicalities sometimes matter, it's important to be true to Scripture in our worship. Broadly speaking "David" can refer to David's covenant sons including Jesus. David's psalms renewed the worship of Israel at the Tabernacle and went on to provide much of the Temple liturgy. So poetically David can be said to "rebuild the temple of Praise" even before Solomon laid a stone of the first physical Temple. Even though David did not "build" the physical temple the lyrics are true to Scripture.
Broadly speaking "David" can refer to his sons up to and including Jesus. Also David's psalms renewed the worship life of Israel at the Tabernacle and formed much of the Temple liturgy so David was "rebuilding the temple of praise" before Solomon laid a stone.

@MaxAgond Let's see here, the name David means "Beloved" and was noted for his praise. Ezekiel means "Strength of God". So you see it IS the praise of the Beloved One singing in the midst of his brethern that brings forth the Strength of God to gather together living stones to build up a temple of praise for His Glory!
nice song
