Shawn Lane - Guitar Solo Improv (San Diego - 25th Jan 2001)

Here Shawn Lane plays a beautiful improvised Guitar Solo at the Sushi Community Centre, San Diego, on the 25th Jan 2001. He played this gig with Jonas Hellborg, Selvaganesh, Vikku Vinayakram, Umashankar and U. Shrinivas.

This is the finest performance I have ever seen of any musician. The guitar doesn't even sound like a guitar. Shawn is able to turn that piece of wood and string into a landscape of colors and flowing water. And this is exactly what every musician should aspire to do with his or her instrument of choice. God bless Shawn and all who reach for this star in the heavens.

Shawn Lane was the greatest guitarist to ever live and to this day a solo such as this can not be mimicked by any other, an absolute masterpiece.

Who says fast, technical playing has to sound robotic? It's artists like him and Jason Becker that show that fast playing can sound beautiful.
