One of the senior members of my collection

By senior member, I mean I've had it for a long time!
This is my Sanitaire SC888B, I purchased this new in December of 1986, the 3rd new vacuum I'd ever bought. I bought this shortly after I'd starting working part time nights for a cleaning service, mainly doing model homes and some offices. I used those model homes for a test ground, and tried many, MANY different vacuums.
This Saniitaire wore like iron. Early on I converted it to paper bags, which I felt was a huge improvement over the shakeout. At one time I was vacuuming about 30,000 square feet of carpeting a weekend with this vacuum, and the only maintenance it needed was belts and bags and brush strips.
Today this Sanitaire lives in my collection and does not see much use. Its now equipped with a 4-brush Vibra Groomer II, which keeps it from hugging the carpet too much. I've never had any motor problems at all.
I regard this cleaner as an faithful old friend.
OH yeah, back in 1986 I paid $239 for it, trading in an old Kirby Dual 50 for it.
The Sc888 is still a part of Sanitaire's line, now designated SC888G

Hi I just noticed I dont think the motor hood is oiginal because it says wide track. The sc899 was the wide track and was 16 inches wide

@willsmash7 The sticker is not original, I replaced it at some point because the original was scratched. I like the look with the wider sticker.

I love your Sanitaire sc888. I have 3 sc886s they are pretty much the same only no head light and they have the tump out bag. I got my first one from a Days Inn that I used to work at it was made in 1987. My next one I got off Ebay not sure how old it is im guessing its only like 10 because It has the beige handle cap not the red one but it has the quick kleen sticker. And my newest one I got for xmas its the newest one with the gray cord and handle cap.

Wow. You've got a LOT of Kirbys. (Mine is from 1950, and still works. My parents bought it when I was very young and used it forever.)

I love these vacuums. I have some SC886's they are tough as nails and really clean carpet.

Now, it's SC888K, they removed the headlight, same with model SC899F :(

Hey there i was just wondering where i would be able to find a brush roll like that on the net. I can't seem to find anything like that. If you could let me know that would be great.
