they forgot to mention that the spark caused a build up of toxic chemicals in the water that would kill anything in it so they built a trap into the device to catch the toxic chemicals. The whole experiment really shows how hard it is just to create simple amino acids and how it really doesn't occur absent of an intelligence since the device had to be built by an intelligence for the experiment to even take place because dun dun dun... abiogenesis isnt real.

you really are a dumbass, arent you? From the very first sentence you speak, if you had a single firing neuron or an ounce of honesty you would have re-read what you typed, even if you didnt realize it when you typed it the first time, and just known you couldnt actually hit the enter button.

I mean really, toxic, to newly formed chemical particles? How can something be TOXIC to an amino acid?

I mean that is Fish level "I'm wet, and I dont even realize it" stupidity right there. God damn.

Toxic to the hypothetical newly forming single celled organism. It would be like trying to grow a human in a bathtub full of acid, does that seem possible to you. But I bet if a scientists in a white coat told you so you would believe it, your calling me a dumb ass yet you probably believe double-minded statements like "Life comes from non-life" doesn't that sound wrong to you try this one "Freedom is slavery" or "Light Comes from Darkness" these things cannot be right. Life comes from Life

you clearly have absolutely no idea what this test was meant to produce.

First of all, this experiment was meant to produce the components off life, not a living cell.

Second, far more recent studies have already produced both the components of life AND simple proto-cells.

Third, the processes of life are mechanical and chemical, and are entirely replicable. There is no definite point where 'non life' becomes life, so it's a false distinction.

So, on all counts, you are both wrong and stupid

I mean seriously that is some angry stupid, some powerful stupid. Does it take effort to be like you or does it come naturally?

How about this, dumbass:

Flight comes from non-flight.

Functional comes from non-functional.

A hundred years ago, a man exactly as stupid as you argued that man could not fly because man was not a flying creature.

There have been people like you throughout history, and they're always proven wrong.

To quote Wheel Of Fish: STUPID!!! YOU'RE SO STUPID!!!

I wouldnt bother responding to this, you clearly have no idea what you're talking about, and whether you're arguing for ideological reasons, or just out of good old fashioned air-headedness, frankly i dont really care. I wont be reading any more replies if this is the best you can do.

@fordm07: An average modern protein is about 200 amino acids, correct. There are those that are much smaller: insulin is about 56 AA in length.

@goatmilk222: Actually, when the same experiment is run with what we now know is a more accurate model of the early atmosphere, the yield of organics is increased. The only thing that would stop the production of amino acids is free O2, and there was none in the earth's skies in more than trace amounts at that time.

How many amino acids did the get the next time?

@goatmilk222: You would have to pull the original paper to get the correct data, but it was not the number of Amino acids, rather their percentages in the composition. Additionally, the racemic values were the same with equal number of L/D isomers. this can be offset by the preponderance of L-isomers found in amino acids not of terrestrial origin. Once again, the only thing that would've precluded AA formation was free O2, which was absent in early atmospheres.
