SIGNIS VJs - Soul Food

Catechism classes with strong gospel message kicked off with different groups gathering in various locations in Madrid. The theme of the day, "Stand Strong In Faith", was shared and reflected upon by the pilgrims. The main message from the gospel of Matthew was to stay focused in Jesus even through the storms in life. Catechism classes kicked off with different groups gathering in different arenas in Madrid centering the sharing on the theme for the day -- Stand Strong in Faith. The theme for the day was derived from the gospel of Matthew, chapter 14, verses 22 to 32, "Stand strong in Faith".

Pilgrims were reminded of stories from the Old Testament from which they should base their prayers on. They were urged to stand strong in their faith.

The priest conducting the session said, "You should pray prayers like the one of Noah, that amidst all the criticism, God will keep you firm in faith; also like Abraham, when your future is unclear, you should have faith."

Sarai, Abraham's wife as another example from old books of the Bible, he said when things do not seem to work and seem impossible, we should "stay strong in faith and believe."

The passage in the gospel speaks of a boat caught out in the storms. The priest reminded the pilgrims that the boat symbolizes the church and Peter symbolizes the people.

"Never lose focus on Jesus," he said.

For in the passage, as long as Peter kept his eyes and focused on Jesus, he kept on walking on water but the moment he was distracted by the strong waves, he lost focus and started to sink.

"Don't worry! I am Jesus. Don't be Afraid."

The simple message for the day is Jesus always walks beside you, especially when you are facing storms in your life.
