This is a video tribute to my patron saint, Oscar Wilde. His words ring true even for our time. Original music "Ideals" by Whisper of the Garden. Readings of Oscar Wilde by Stephen Fry.

  • Is that the voice of the ever-wonderful Stephen Fry?

  • @theladyprimrose Yes, it is! Mr. Fry is a gem, isn't he?

  • Oscar Wilde wasnt meant for this world. He was too smart, beautiful and beyond anyones comprehension.I was amazed when I first encountered his work, as a child, and now i read his chidrens literature to my son. My son is named after him, and if asked he tells people "my middle name comes from a really good writer".

  • Thank you, havealook! I agree with you about Oscar being too good for this world. I read Oscar's works to my children, too, and they adore his stories. They even call our victorian-styled living room "the Oscar Wilde room" now. :) Cheers!

  • Great, intelligent and funny quotes. It's incredible how he can reveal so much using only a few words.

Good music too, by the way.

  • Thank you so much! Oscar's words always put me in the right frame of mind! Cheers, whisper

  • Whats the music??

  • I need to give Wilde another chance, I guess. I read him in my teens, admittedly mainly 'cause Morrissey was always going on about him, but it just didn't do it for me. I read 3 plays:LWF, TIOBE,and AIH, didn't like any of them. Maybe I was too young, idk. But a lot of these quotes are great. We were just at his graveyard in Paris, like two weeks ago...the cemetery was almost closing...had time to find either his or Jim Morrison's grave. Um...sorry, Oscar. Next time, I promise.

  • Such a superb queer!! so proud of u Oscar!!!

  • Wilde said that Dorian was who he wanted to be, basil was himself, and Henry was who people thought he was

  • i always went by this: yesterday is history tomorrow is a mystery today is a gift that is why it is called the presint

     sorry for my bad spelling

  • Terrific work! I love Oscar Wilde.

  • Wilde would laugh at this video, if Lord Henry and the decay of lying are any indication of how he looks at things

  • thankyou for this
