The person who stands in awe of God and reverences our holy,gracious Lord will hate sin and will be thankful for the grace of God in his life. One whos eyes are fixed apon the majesty and greatness of God will not barter the diamond of Gods holiness for the dirt of sin. I wrote this worship song by the grace of God and we sang it with passion in our church services in barbados. Please listen to the whole song and you will be blessed. Christians are to have a godly fear as in awe ,reverence,honor and deep despect,which is a part of their christian faith.We are not afraid of God in a sese or terror,but we do fear Him as in deep reverence that draws us to God.The wicked do not fear God but when aware of His wrath they are afraid of God.Two different attitudes altogether.We cant replace the fear of God scriptures with the word belief,they are 2 distinct words.God is my Father but is holy I love Him but also stand in Awe of Him.

Dear aflame This is a great song and ur explanation on the fear of God is very accurate. Fear in hebrew dosen't mean belief. The problem with the church now is that it lacks fear for God. There isnt any reverence anymore. No one stands in awe of Him. Your comments are so good and speak of a positive holy fear not a cringing fear. When i read the scriptures on the fear of God i see how important it is and that the Holy Spirit. inspired the writers to use the word fear.

Yes it is a wonderful subject that needs to be taught in every church.The Word of God is full of scores of scriptures that encourage the saints of God to fear the Lord.The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom and knowledge.This tells me how important the fear of God is.
