Arizona Fall League: Team USA hosts Phoenix Desert Dogs

Team USA, our nation's effort to compete on the global stage in The Olympics and other tournaments, is participating in a week's worth of Arizona Fall League games as a tune up for the IBAF World Cup in Taiwan. Team USA hosted the Phoenix Desert Dogs, and walked away with a 3-2 win with Dodgers' prospect Andy LaRoche the hero with the glove and bat. He drove in the winning run with a double in the bottom of the 8th, with Nationals reliever Chris Booker coming in for the save.
This lengthy game clip features LaRoche and other 2008 Rookie of the Year hopefuls. Included in that mix are Colby Rasmis (Cadinals), Evan Longoria (D-Rays), Delwyn Young (Dodgers) and Andrew McCutchen (Pirates). Other players in the clip include a pair of Phillies prospects, Josh Outman (what a perfect name for a pitcher) and Jason Jamarillo (catcher). We'll no doubt be seeing that pair when they play in '08 for the Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs.

This is so cool, Josh Outman is a cousin that I have never met. (my name is David Outman)

I just learned about him as I did a google search for the Outman name and geneology.

I do have additional footage of Outman, and he has lost that odd hitch in his pitching motion, According to Baseball America's 2007 Propsect book, the Phillies minor league coaches had him drop the odd motion in favor of a more conservative one. I like Outman, but like Haap a little better. I saw his last year in the Fall League.

I have met Andy Laroche and seen him play while he was playing for the Columbus Catfish, he hit 2 bombs that game, so from what I have seen he is really good, probably will be a bit better, hitting wise, then his brother. Colby Rasmus is actually a buddy of mine, hopefully he will continue to do well as he has done so far this spring training. Thanks for the video, nice job with it.

Andy Laroche is out for 8-10 weeks now.. he hurt his thumb
