  • a kigo is very important in haiku, but considering this is (apparently) a class assignment; the teacher, not the young poets, is the one 'at fault'. In the first haiku, it seems it is 5,8,5, but considering the'5,7,5' syllabic layout is only a westernisation of the traditional jaapanese system, using units of hiragana (ka, ki, ku, ke, ko etc.) they, again, cannot be deemed responsible. Nice idea, a good idea for a weekly or bimonthly exercise, class votes on a subject, then composes haiku...
