Philadelphia Eagles Select Jeremy Maclin - Fan Reaction at the Draft Party

I was at the Philadelphia Eagles NFL Draft Party. Here is the crowd reaction when they selected Jeremy Maclin in the1st round. I think everybody was stunned with the pick. Even those being interviewed (former players Ike Reese and Hugh Douglas and current players Omar Gaither and Trevor Laws) seemed stunned. The guy standing next to me was pissed and soon as I shut the camera off, he started booing and cursing.

Most people had come with the hope of drafting Knowshon Moreno but the Broncos took him at #12. At least the Eagles didn't draft another offensive lineman or trade out of the first round again. But I also don't think they needed to trade up to get Maclin.

Dude I was shocked too. When they traded up I thought for SURE it was for Brandon Pettigrew. I didn't even see this one coming. I mean I'm happy now and think he will do well on our offense, but at the time I kinda just didn't know what to think! But ya know, I am glad of one thing....that we DIDN'T get K-Moreno: he's got an ego, at least I appreciate J-Mac's low key personality.

I was talking to somebody at the draft party when my friend Jeff nearly knocked me over when the Eagles traded up. I was positive it was Pettigrew and I was thinking "Well, then why are they showing this Maclin guy on the screen?" I have talked to some friends who met Maclin at a few Eagles events and they said he is very much a friendly and humble guy. Now we just got to get him into camp, hopefully before I go up to Lehigh next week! GO EAGLES!!
