Has it been a good year for Woody Harrelson or what? First Defendor, then Zombieland, and now this November brings The Messenger, a movie that shows that Harrelson's got a really impressive dramatic range.
One of the worst jobs in the military has got to be Casualty Notification, or being one of the folks who goes to the next of kin of recently deceased soldiers to inform them that their loved ones are dead. And when one of these Casualty Notifications officers pays a call on the family of a deceased soldier, he finds the young widow of the recently deceased entirely too attractive a prospect to resist. He finds himself trapped by incredible moral complexity. Check out the trailer.
Woody Harrelson is rapidly proving his worth as a wide-ranging actor who can handle nearly any role, but is "incredible moral complexity" enough of an impetus to get the proverbial butts in the equally proverbial seats? So we'll break it to you--do you think The Messenger can get anywhere? Or is this one that should've gotten discharged before it got funded? Head down to the comments section to weigh in, and thanks for watching.
The Messenger Cast: Ben Foster, Woody Harrelson, Samantha Morton, Jena Malone, Eamonn Walker
