Farnham is very talented and has a magnificent voice and ability, but he tends to "oversing". No subtlety at all or respect for the original versions that the fans grew up loving.
@har9020 Yea but I'm the kind of guy that would probably puke if he had to listen to Free Bird or Stairway To Heaven one more time. Grew up loving them but now I am SICK of them....and many other classics from my era of music.
I partially agree. There are only so many times in one's lifetime one needs to hear "Freebird" or "Gimme Three Steps". So much good classic rock, so many stations that overplay too many of those songs....
I agree completely. He feels like he has to "oversing" because his is not the voice that made this song a hit. He puts out a respectable version, but doesn't come close to Glenn Shorrock.
Glenn originally wrote Cool Change as a reggae song....and the guys who "fixed" it and made it the hit that is are standing right there on the same stage as Farnham....helping him sing it this way. This version is closer to Glenn's recorded rendition than Glenn's original rendition. Give it a rest.
Interesting background info I didn't know, but it doesn't change the fact that Farnham is trying TOO hard in his version. He oversings as har9020 correctly points out. Sorry Free Man.
