We're back with a new video! Two new cars, intervehicle collision, breaking glass, deformable objects, and various tweaks and improvements. Our physics are now running multicore which means we can simulate multiple vehicles (including collision) at over 60 frames per second.

A few things to mention:

If things seem too bouncy, please remember we're using real life spring and damper rates, and it probably looks wrong because nobody ever does anything this extreme with a real car

Breaking lights and particles are on the way

Everything you see is still a work in progress

Self collision is mostly disabled in this video while we improve it (so there's still some clipping)

The interior for the hatchback and sedan are not complete yet, which is why they aren't in the video

We already know about and have fixed some of the excess flexibility (i.e. the rear door of the sedan and the mirrors on all cars)

Music is by our vehicle artist gabester (http://soundcloud.com/gabester)

no, not really. this is designed for real time use, and is coded to fit into a game engine (cryengine 3 etc) and they have much more appropriate types of software for crash simulation/reenactment already. this isn't exacly appropriate for real world documentation kind of stuff.

To be honest, this will be more used in accident scene reenactments then in games. Most likely

Exactly. When they say this is the most realistic crash model EVER they mean it in the sense of best crash model for use in games and in real time. We have developed software far superior than this that can track where a sliver of glass lands but it isn't used in real time, in fact it can take days to render the reenactment.

Fancy graphics and nice flips isn't what engineer want to take away from simulated crashes. Actual crashtesting software (which already exists) is more indepth since the strengh of every bolt is required to make an accurate model.
