let's put on my muslim mask for the lulz:
"sun is hot, but not as hot as the fire of Hell when you shall burn forever if you don't teach your kid God is the greatest."
XD XD sorry...

You cannot force your kids to believe what you tell them. You can only force them to claim they believe what you tell them to believe in front of you. They will in the end believe what they want, and think what they want, those beliefs and thoughts will just be kept from you.

Epic video response and loving the debatefree website haha

Personally, I want to show my kids the world as my parents did. Natural history and history as such were always part of our past time. I never made it to any theme park (except Legoland), but I probably know most Roman or celtic excarvation sites within 500 km ;).
It fostered my intertest in knowledge, how do we know these things, what does it mean?
Churches were also always visited, but only as monuments of architecture and art, not during mass.

Hi there from across the border (kind of) I think our systems are pretty similar although you don't have to take part in christianity classes if you're not a/that kind of christian. Loved it as a kid, 2 free hours and my classmates were stuck in school.
I think it is easier in more secular societies, even though our states aren't. My daughter's the age of your son and the most complicated question I got so far was: "Why do we celebrate christmas?", go figure...

I like the way you do things, from whats happened to me in life i was lucky enough for my mom to not have me baptized as any denomination. I grew up i was given the choice and i was allowed to by myself look into the different belief systems, although my parents didnt help me which wasn't very helpful. But now as a practicing Jew realizing that if i had been listened to when i was younger i wouldnt have the issues i have now. without the schul i have had a much harder time of being accepted.
Because I don't have a kid myself, I honestly don't know how I would raise them.
Presumably that when I eventually do have kids, it will be in Japan so they will be quite surrounded by the many shinto and buddhist festivals they have each year, along with western ones such as Christmas, Halloween, etc. so I honestly don't know. I hope to do the same thing by listening to their questions and offering answers which they can understand, but in regards to faith same position as yours I think mate..

@RyuOni1989 You're also a reasonable person ;) But as a parent you are suddenly put in situations you might not normally have thought of.

It must make it easier in a society that is fairly secular like yours. From what I remember you telling me, despite having a state religion, that your society is pretty non-religious. I recall you saying you had to hunt to find one evangelical to debate with. :)

@TheTruePooka Yes it is very de-facto non-religious, which is why it annoys me when the small fundie groups uses the argument of 80% of the population is a member of the state church.
It was only within the past few years of being exposed to fundie fucktards on Youtube that I realised that there are actually people that believe in the bible, as something that happened.
