R4 Setup & Install + Comparison of R4 SDHC & Original R4 Cards

Important information about install and both original R4 and R4 SDHC knock off cards: PLEASE READ

First - before you freak out - I AM tsrcruz. I have a new channel, that was my old married name which no longer applies. Love to you, thanks for your concern :) That channel will be deleted on January 1st.

1. There are two different R4 cards:

Original R4: www.R4DS.cn
R4 Fake, Knock off, R4SDHC: www.R4SDHC.com

Your card will either just have R4 on it or it will say R4 with SDHC next to it on the front.

2. They cost different prices. Knock off cost me $20 and Original costs around $60 USD.

If you have a knock off, don't worry, it still works just fine, you just need to install the right components.

3. The install files come in 1 zipped file ending with .rar.

Original R4 needs English 1.18.rar download from website

R4SDHC Knock-off needs English 1.24.rar or any more current version (1.25 etc)

4. Original R4 has 2 folders and 2 files to copy and paste onto your MicroSD card = 4 files/folders

R4 SDHC Knock-off has 2 folders, 2 files & 1 notepad type file (configuration settings) = 5 files/folders

5. You will need to download an unzipping program for RAR files if you do not already have one.

I suggest: ALZip or WinRAR.

They both can be found at www.downloads.com and are free programs. Download either of those programs and unzip the file to find the folders/files as I described in #4.

TROUBLESHOOTING:
Problems with downloading kernel from website: Download an older version of the file.
Problems with the website not showing up: Wait a couple days, it will show up again.
Problems with getting a ?menu error on your screen: Do not format your memory card (if you did, you need a new one that isn't formatted), install the files directly on the card based upon the video to the left, MAKE SURE you are installing the right files on the right card (i.e. Original R4 card needs kernel from www.R4DS.cn website ONLY)

Any issues with the website not working properly, downloads not acting right, any other errors on your NDS, or any other brands of R4 cards, any other websites besides the ones I've named here or on the video, I cannot help you. I do not have experience with R4 Gold, R4i, NDSi, or any other alternate brands. I will not endorse or try to troubleshoot any other brand that I do not have personal experience with as it would be irresponsible of me to do that. I hope you understand. :)
