It is sad to see someone killed for his political beliefs. This man may be bad or corrupt but he sure had the courage to say what he felt strongly about (viz blasphemy laws). Today, Pakistan is a divided state, divided between religious zealots and sane elements. Which side finally wins the battle will determine if Pakistan survives as a nation or not.

We would like to condemn the brutal shooting of the Governor of Punjab" Slaman Taseer. It is with great regret that Pakistani society has become so intolerable and fanaticism has taken the place of the religion. There is no doubt in that the blasphemy laws are being used an an instrument to settle personal vendetta. False instigations of blasphemy are not something Prophet Mohammad would approve of.

Good bye Gov Salman Taseer.
You had the guts to stand for minorities who were being given death penalty by misuse of the blasphemy laws, and you gave up your life for your courage.
You are a martyr in my eyes and much better than the religious clergy who say their prayers five times a day and yet are intolerant enough to proclaim death penalty on others.
Long live the memory of Salman Taseer!
