@wolf360090 you prob will have to take out the starter and take it apart. i just had the same problem and a gear inside was broken because it was cranked too hard and/or more than 2 or 3 seconds.

what does the starter clutch act do...i am having a problem with my 79 gl1000 i have to hit the ignition a few times before it will crank over,, it almost sounds like a dead battery,, new cylinoid and good connection,, would that act be my starter gone or some like it being bound up and turning hard
