Shawna has a history of thyroid problems, so The Doctors send her to expert endocrinologist, Dr. Eva Cwynar to see if her thyroid is indeed the source of her symptoms.

  • Dont go by the standard tsh levels .5 to 5.0. I was at 5.0 and my doc said i was fine. 2 years later i finally got on thyroid meds and my life got better. .5 to 3.0 should be the range for tsh. Then you quacks will put her on synthroid and introduce her to a life of misery.

  • Remember. There's Type2 Hypothyroidism. Thyroid levels may be in the "normal " range, but at the cellular level, thyroid hormone may not be doing its job. Get a second opninion.

  • TSH can fluctuate up and down and may be "normal" when tested. Fluctuations are well noted in Hashimoto's Thyroiditis (most common cause of hypothyroidism). TSH is also lower if the blood test is taken later in the day, you were not fasting, and if you are deficient in cortisol. Thyroid antibodies can cause symptoms when the TSH is normal. The TSH range is too high (over 2.5mU/L is suspect) and Thyroid Resistance Syndrome shows all normal labs. Shawna more likely gets misdiagnosed. :)

  • my last level was 36 in the emergency room (not sure what part of TSH that represents(, but two years before that, I was on levothyroxine. I quit the meds and started HCG diet protocol for 3 weeks and take mutri meds porcine supplements (dessicated thyroid) It doesnt CURE my hypothyroidism, but helps with symptoms. Within those 3 weeks, I also lost 25 lbs and am at my normal weight (after 5 years of no success) and havent gained any weight back, thank God. Still a lifetime of management tho.

  • THYROID DISEASE IS CAUSED BY FLUORIDE, FLUORIDE IS IN OUR TOOTH PASTE AND OUR WATER SUPPLY, THE GOVERNMENT PUT FLUORIDE IN OUR WATER AND PRETENDS IT KILLS CAVITY BUT STUDIES SHOWED THAT IT DOESNT, AND THAT IT CAUSES THYROID IN THE LONG RUN THATS Y 59 MILLION AMERICANS HAVE THYROID

  • The TSH test is fine but its surprising an u/s isnt preformed more often. In my situation my diseased thyroid was first caught via an u/s. Subsequent blood tests showed nothing wrong. Ultimately, a total thyroidectomy was necessary.

Other points: 1.) TSH range of .5 5.0 is sufficient and perhaps even too low (in Britain it goes up to 10.0). 2.) There is no such thing as Type2 Hypothyroidism. Thats a made up term to sell books. 3.) A lot of people fake thyroid disease.

  • There seems to be a lot of people on youtube who have had their blood works come back fine but still have the symptoms of hypothyroidism. Is it possible to have hypothyroidism even though the blood work does not show any irregularities? Those same people have found out they DO have hypothyroidism and have seen great result after being treated with synthroid. Help?
