http://spaceflightnews.net - This video from NASA's Ares I-X test launch shows the deployment of the three recovery parachutes and subsequent failure of two of them during the first stage solid rocket booster's descent to the ocean after launch. The camera that captured this video was mounted in the forward section of the booster looking upward.
Footage from an on-board high speed, high resolution camera fixed within the Ares I-X
First Stage forward assembly captured valuable engineering data during the October 28, 2009
Ares I-X test flight. This data will be critical to understand the dynamic events
that caused a parachute to malfunction following the initial chute deployment.
The Ares I-X main parachutes are the largest parachute system ever flown and were
tested at total payload weight for the first time during Ares I-X. Ares I-X provided
the only opportunity for a full system test in an actual flight test environment
because the flight environment cannot be replicated with aircraft drop tests due
to weight and altitude limitations of the drop test aircraft.
Ares I-X was the first flight test of the Constellation Program and provided NASA
an early opportunity to gather operational data during booster deceleration and recovery.
@verminosity So true. But you fogot the "If you look at 1:02 ....ALIENS"

@verminosity: "Exactamundo!", as the Fonz used to say. It's depressing how even the most innocuous video can lead to "You're a poopy pants!" type name calling.

This video needs: Music by the Drowning Pool - Let the Bodies hit the Floor. And then some dorkwad leaving the comment 'Epic Fail'. And then some other dorkwad calling that poster an idiot, and then...
