Just a breif demonstration of which is the better of the two. Some people say a gamepad is best for sniping etc. well I think i've proved the latter to be best for competition,

If you would like to play CoD4 PC using your Xbox 360 controller check out my tutorial if you don't already know how to get started with using it on the PC here:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c1rqRMsK3fE&fmt=18

If you already know how to get connected, and are unsure of how to set it up in CoD4, simply download his program:

www.pinnaclegameprofiler.com

Once installed, go to their forums and download the official Call of Duty 4 profile, for both SP and MP, you can tweak these as per your preferences.

I have never played the console version of CoD4 so for now I have mapped the buttons to:

L Trigger = Sprint/Hold Breath
R Trigger = Fire
L/S Button = Crouch/Prone (Hold)
R/S Button = Aim
D-Pad Left = Lean Left
D-Pad Right = Lean Right
D-Pad Down = Equipment Scroll
D-Pad Up = Nightvision
A = Stand/Jump
B = Knife/Melee Attack
X = Reload/Use/Pickup (Hold)
Y = Weapon Scroll
L Bumper = Pyrotechnics
R Bumper = Frag Grenade
Back = Scoreboard
Start = Pause Game

If anybody has the time, please let me know the actual xbox 360 configuration so i can tweak it up, maybe it will be a bit easier to play then.

Enjoy the video.

  • so what brand of toaster did you record this on?

  • @FlashFireGaming It was a Breville 2 Slice plastic toaster.... bargain for only £9.99

  • Not trying to start a flame war. But with devices like the Eagle Eye and the XIM3 increasing in popularity its highly possible that the ps4 and Xbox 3 (720) might adopt m/k support in games as well as controllers. This would give an instant disadvantage to new controller gamers and might push them toward m/k slowly phasing out controllers for competition. I'm not say "M/K Controller" The M/K setup simply has almost a 0% learning curve. Controllers take getting used to. PS I'm a console gamer.

  • @ChickenKrispy so this XIM3/Eagle Eye device would allow us to play xbox 360 with M/K config? if so, I know what im asking my fiance for xmas this year!

  • No just cant stand controllers with a controller my KD ratio would be 13:80 lol

    with pc my KD ratio would be probaly 50:10 lol

  • Not trying to claim controllers are better, but I can lock on to an enemy instantly in cod4 (or any other cod) with the joystick just as accurately and consistently as I do with the mouse keyboard which I also frequently use. Also, aim-assist is optional and I turn it off in every cod. I hooked up a controller to my pc and didn't notice much of a skill difference in games like bad company 2 :/ please cite these microsoft studies you guys keep refrencing.

  • A high end mouse is an incredibly precise peripheral. Once mastered, it offers a level of precision that, quite simply, isn't achievable on a gamepad. As I'm sure others have said, Microsoft had planned to try integrating PC and 360 gaming environments but quickly realized that the PC users had a massive advantage with a KB/M.

  • @VinceIP Hahaha pc players wouldd dominate console.

  • @ChickenKrispy and vise versa, keyboard and mouse take getting used to. im an all around gamer, i play both console and pc games. Shoters tend to be way better with the precision of a mouse.

  • @VinceIP Facts? It's a genuine test done by microsoft, they were trying to integrate Windows Live with Xbox Live.

    The test results also make sense. A joystick generally has 6 or 8 directions, while a mouse is much more precise and you can move it faster to look around faster.

  • @gbatemper123 i think you pulled these facts out of your ass

  • fact of the matter is, keyboard and mouse is the best control method for any game period. Although racing and football games are arguable.

    I emulate tons of games from snes, n64 and PS1, and i use a keyboard for all these games. i can play them way better with keyboard than i ever did with the original console controllers....

    The only reason people argue this is because they have no practice with a keyboard!! If they spent a month using it they would never consider using a pad for any game....
