What's wrong with religion? I use my religion everyday so I remember to keep Big Pharma from taking advantage of my patients that need me. If you're my patient, you receive great objective treatment; not just because I'm brilliant but also because Jesus requires that I study hard and give you all the love that I can - everyday. See if your absolute relativism can top that!

@Flaumenkopf very nice & true imho
@Flaumenkopf ... when you follow musical history back far enough, it inevitably finds root in religious use. Rituals of most cultures seem to involve chanting and the use of primitive instruments almost universally, and music only really diverges into a separate, potentially areligious concept down the line. Anyway, I say all this to reach a different point - that it's generally better to enjoy a thing for its strong points than condemn it for its faults. Spread the love and all that. *wink*

@cloudsquirrel Happy in hatred, eh? I suppose it's not a direct contradiction. Seems odd to me, but hey, to each his own. At any rate, religious influence in music only gets more obvious and more total the further you go - the evolution of music through the Middle Ages is obvious enough in its religiosity, but it's light compared to African or South American tribal forms - when you invent music specifically to ward off or summon spirits, you're pretty deep in supernatural territory. Seriously...
