@stefmano88 You're wrong, it's is belittling gay people. It is saying that gay is negative and something they should not want to be. I've been silent like your gay friends are for too many years. Everytime someone uses these terms, and a gay person hears it, it hurts, whether they say so or not. Try using the term black instead and see what happens!

It has been a long-standing tradition among straight males to belittle and humiliate each other by attacking the masculinity of the victim and calling him effeminate. Straights automatically associate male effeminacy with homosexuality and especially playing the passive or female role.  Straight Latino males particularly become very angry when a man shows any lust for them because in their minds, they are being reduced to what they may believe is an inferior female role.

im gay, but i would never say to straight guys "don't use that language. it offends me." it's a free world (well... some of it is free) and if calling sum1 gay or whatever in a group of straights guys is wot they want to do then that's up to them. yes it is a negative thing and it's used as a "ur worth less than us" jibe, but 3dom of speech is pretty brilliant even if it does offend at times. i love straight guys and i think the world wud be shit without them like

I don't get it either... people say it's not a big deal like wedgies, but everyone has the same general perception of how funny a wedgie is. And everyone gets tired of it within the same time frame. "dude your gay" "thats gay" "my cereals gay" that shit gets old, yet i have relatively normal friends who find unusual satisfaction in it.

I'm gay and I'm gonna be honest, I call people gay and i call people straight, whether they actually are the label i place on them or not. I find humor in it because i know its not important. If i call a straight man gay, i find it funny that they get so flustered about it. If i call a gay man straight, we both laugh and move on. I think that you're reading into it a little too much. It's not a very big issue.

Im gay and I honestly have to say this is guy sounds fucking retarded. Straight guys make the joke about calling each other gay is something I don't understand, but why care? If everyone was like you and hyper-sensitive towards others, the world would be such a careful and boring place.

I use that phrase.. 'that's gay' but I think now it doesn't really mean the same thing. I'm gay and it doesn't bother me, why would it, I'm comfortable with my sexuality and proud and happy, I might try to dial that phrase down if people don't like it. People should be able to express their sexuality, whatever it is, who is anyone else to judge?.....
